Our second hand charity shop
Since we opened the doors of our own charity shop in September 2005 we have been raising funds to help our local cats in need. We pride ourselves on the quality and quantity of items we hold in stock, due to the wonderful support of our donators and the presentation skills of our volunteers.
The shop volunteer team have a weekly morning or afternoon shift, from Monday to Saturday. This meet and greet time with the public, selling our donated items builds a community of caring people who want to involve themselves in supporting our Association.
Jobs include accepting items from the public and washing, cleaning and preparing them for sale. Checking items are sellable and sorting through, categorising winter and summer clothes. Larger items donated, like furniture can be collected if the donator has no way to get them to us. Taking the items we cannot use to other charities, dressing the window with new designs and sorting through the stock on a regular basis are team functions that can be done with colleagues.
Spreading the word through our shop visitors, about how to care for cats in the community and encouraging more people to get involved, is possible due to the large number of people we meet on a daily basis. Outside of shop hours, many of the volunteers get together to spend free time sharing their interests and raising funds for the cats through events.
Look around your home, office and garden. If you find any items you no longer need or wish to keep, please, think of us before you throw it away:
